About Semi-intensive Courses
Our semi-intensive driving courses are a great option for learners who want to progress faster than with weekly lessons, but without the full commitment of an intensive course. By taking multiple lessons per week, you can build skills quickly while still leaving time for work, study, or other commitments. It’s a flexible way to stay consistent and confident behind the wheel. With longer sessions available in both 90-minute and 2-hour formats, you’ll have more time to develop key skills, practice complex manoeuvres, and get comfortable in real driving conditions. Whether you’re learning to navigate busy roundabouts, reverse into a bay, or drive confidently in traffic, these sessions give you the time and focus needed to improve. Our experienced instructors will guide you through each stage of learning, helping you build a solid foundation and preparing you for your test at a comfortable pace. About SEMI-INTENSIVE COURSES
Once one of our team members has spoken to you or replied to your message via text, WhatsApp, Email or on the contact enquiry form, we will allocate one of our SOS instructors to contact you by phone or text to follow up your enquiry. This is known as a pupil lead.
They will touch base and introduce themselves, discuss their earliest availability and inform their hourly rates and packages including block booking discounts. If you are interested in booking with them or would like to ask some questions, please feel free to do so. Our instructors do not try to hard sell or pressure you to book a lesson. They are friendly and approachable.
You can pay for your driving lessons a couple of different ways. Ideally our instructors take payment upfront before your lesson at least 24 hours or if agreed on the day of your first lesson. You will have an initial conversion with your allocated instructor. who will discuss with you their preferred way of payment . Most of the time, you’ll be paying via bank transfer to your instructor. Cash is accepted. No cheques. If you would prefer to pay for your lessons upfront to the company, simply give us a call on 0800 488 0817 or 07926 943702
You will need a Provisional Driving Licence. This will need to be shown to your instructor on your first lesson. Keep it safe because you will need it for both the theory & practical Driving Tests. You will also need to be able to read a car number plate at 20.5 metres
Here at SOS Driver Training, all of our instructors are self-employed. This allows our instructors to work the hours that suit them. The times in which you can take your driving lessons vary – some of our driving instructors start as early as 6.30am, and others do not finish till 10pm.
Most pupils will have one lesson a week, but that is not essential. They can be tailored to whatever suits you best.
Most of our driving instructors deliver 2 hour lessons. They believe that it is more beneficial than 1 hour for a variety of reasons including reduced learning time overall, approximately triples the learning period in any given time, allows retention of information due to more time to practice and allowing for a greater geographical area to be covered in lessons to maximise exposure to a variety of traffic situations. In conclusion taking a 2 hour lesson is a good way to build your driving skill & knowledge over time & can be more cost-effective than taking shorter lessons. Ultimately, we understand your individual circumstances, learning style & preferences.
On the flipside, our instructors find a lot of learners make mistakes in the final 20 minutes of their lesson. so they have found that a 1.5 hour lesson strikes the balance between making sure significant progress is made, and their is not too much mental fatigue , helping to keep driver errors down & confidence up.
Unfortunately we don’t . We recommend taking a more tailored approach to driving lessons based on your individual requirements.
Long daily sessions can affect concentration and learning intake. An intensive course, as the name suggests, is very intense and not suited to all learners.
We offer semi intensive lessons which tends to tailor for pupils finding a practical test at short notice. However we don’t accept a short notice test within 7 days
Our SOS Driver Training instructors all use different cars, However, they are all fitted with dual controls, with some cars fitted with front & rear dash cams. All driving tuition vehicles are fully suitable for teaching.
It’s difficult to say how many lessons you will need to get up to test standard, as everybody learns differently. As a guideline, DVSA statistics say the average pupil takes 47 hours of professional driving lessons , and 20 hours private practice
Of course some times you may need to cancel a lesson, we understand that. All we ask is you give us at least 24 hours notice, anything less than that and you will be charged for the lesson.

I passed my driving test this morning in Letchworth! I couldn't recommend my driving instructor, Jerry Agorsor, more. While I'm generally stressed, he's incredibly patient, knowledgeable, kind, and professional. When I got a surprise test slot only a week before my test, I was panicked. He managed to find some time for me and gave me two extra training sessions beforehand. Thanks to his professional and patient teaching, I passed! I highly recommend Jerry to anyone who wants to pass the driving test. He will be the one to help you get the license!
